The Las Vegas Raiders will soon have Tom Brady as a part owner. Did he chase this chance for some extremely trivial reason? I have no doubts that this is the case. The most dedicated and competitive person in history may be Tom Brady.
There are very few athletes that can match his commitment to achievement and a distinguished playing career. His 45-year-old is about to become a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, a franchise that was rumoured to be interested in signing Brady this offseason. He won at the highest level for 20 years.
As we all know, there are many former Patriots players, coaches, and executives on the Raiders. Given that they obviously did not want to keep Derek Carr, who signed with the New Orleans Saints this offseason, Brady playing for a year or two in LV would have made a tonne of sense.
Brady will, subject to NFL clearance, become a minority owner of an NFL franchise, effectively ruling out any chance of a comeback. While the Raiders do make the most sense for this endeavour, could there be another factor at play if Brady had his sights set on being an NFL owner?
Even while there might not be animosity between the two, it has looked to me that Tom Brady felt a little betrayed when the Patriots selected Garoppolo in the 2014 NFL Draught. Then, in classic Tom Brady form, he disproved Bill Belichick, if Belichick was the one who had actually believed Brady had nothing left to give.
In 2014, 2016, and 2018, the Patriots won the Super Bowl. In those contests, they defeated the Los Angeles Rams, Atlanta Falcons, and Seattle Seahawks. Brady’s success continued, and the Patriots eventually sold Garoppolo to the San Francisco 49ers, where he had a fairly successful run.
Could Tom Brady’s desire to pursue this little ownership stake have been an unintentional “screw you” to Garoppolo? Maybe I’m reading too much into this because I believe Brady and Garoppolo are friends, but Garoppolo has a certain appeal that many seem to be drawn to, and I believe Brady is still a little miffed that he could have been replaced as the starting quarterback in New England by a much less capable player.
Maybe this is the Petty Master, Tom Brady?
